Color, for picks, can be a tricky thing. Material and pick color are necessary considerations.
1. The inks we use are special inks designed for this type of printing.
2. The inks we use are not 100% opaque.
3. Pick material changes the look of the colors.
3. Pick color shows through inks, mixes with inks and changes the color of inks.
4. Pick materials can be matte or shiny. This also changes the look of the color.
5. We cannot guarantee that we will mix inks 100% to your liking, so suggesting a PMS color always helps. We cannot guarantee it will match perfectly, but we can get close.
6. If you desire a near-perfect match, PMS inks, specifically designed for this type of printing, are available from Pantone®. There is a $125 charge for this service.
7. When using color inks purchased from Pantone®, exact color match will only work on white celluloid, delrin or v-resin. Any other color pick used will change the look of the ink color drastically. Therefore, we can only guarantee you will get the result you want on white picks.
8. See the below example of a pick done for a customer. The customer actually wanted a much darker brown, but we knew that it would appear near black on the blue v-resin (additive color). Note the difference on matte white delrin and light blue v-resin. The actual PMS color is on the right. It's almost a perfect match on the delrin, but dark on the v-resin because of the additive color effect of the ink on the light blue.
